Just in time for Christmas, and launched to coincide with the next summer’s 20th anniversary Festival, Goodwood is proud to announce a new book, plus a two-disc DVD, to mark the best of the first two decades of this event.

Since its first running in 1993, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has established a reputation as the world’s greatest celebration of motor sport history and culture. Every summer, the great and the good of motor sport past and present descend on West Sussex for three days in automotive heaven.

Chapter by chapter, the new Goodwood Festival of Speed book charts the event’s first 20 years, through 360 richly illustrated pages, portraying fabulous shots of the Festival, alongside archive images of all the great cars and motorcycles, drivers and riders in their prime. Also included are 20 appendices, playfully representing the event by genre, whether it’s a comprehensive list of supercar debuts, or images of the famed Central Features by night. All in all, it is the ultimate pictorial review of the Festival of Speed.

The new Festival of Speed book is available from 7 December at £45 per copy. The book can be pre-ordered immediately either on-line at the Goodwood website (http://shop.goodwood.com/products/) or directly via the Goodwood Motor Circuit-based shop, which can be contacted via telephone on 01243 755098.

To accompany the new Goodwood book, a celebration two-disc DVD box set, with extensive footage highlights for each of the first 20 years of the Festival of Speed, is also being launched at £40 per copy. The DVD is also available from the same channels as the new Festival book.

The 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place on 5 - 7 July, with a theme celebrating the best of the first 20 years of this, the world’s most popular motor sport and car culture event. Next summer’s Festival will focus on highlights from the Goodwood event’s glittering history. The biggest, best, fastest, loudest and most outrageous vehicles of all time will be invited back to West Sussex for a weekend not to be missed.

Star cars and motorcycles, plus drivers and riders from each of the world’s major motor sport disciplines, past and present, will be featured at Goodwood, including champions from Formula 1, Indycar, the World Rally Championship,
Superbikes, NASCAR, World Sports Cars and Touring Cars.

Goodwood plans to recapture many of the outstanding Festival of Speed moments from the 1993-2012 era, whether that’s great cars from the USA and elsewhere making a rare return to the UK; or famous car/driver pairings reunited.

All this, along with a host of vehicles and competitors new to Goodwood, and a number of unexpected treats, will provide a fitting birthday party for the world’s greatest celebration of motor sport history and car culture.
